GCSE Results Day 2023

GCSE Results Day: Congratulations to the Class of 2023. We are so proud of the achievements of our Year 11 students. Well done and good luck in your Post 16 destinations.

Attainment 8: 49.7

Mock Interview day 11th July 2023

On the 11th July the College welcomed over 80 people from 60 different businesses to take part in the Y10 Mock Interview Day. What a day it was with fantastic feedback from students and our business people. We are so lucky to have so many willing partners who once again donated some fantastic prizes including an iPad and a Laptop for the students who not only provided a great CV but also impressed our business people.

HCC THIS WEEK – W/C Mon 10th July

We started our week with another fantastic Y6 Transition Day during which students enjoyed an array of lessons from English to DT and a tour to help them settle in. Our Inter-form Countdown competition was incredible, with so many students taking part and supporting their forms; we can’t wait for the Finals next week!

We said goodbye to our fantastic Y11 at Prom. It was such a lovely evening, and a great time was had by all. This week we welcomed our new Y7s! We thoroughly enjoyed showing Y6 round and having them in college on Friday.

What a week! Our Year 10 Geographers enjoyed their field-trip to Mappleton, our dancers blew us all away with their incredible performances in the Dance Show celebrating ten years of Horizon Dance, and Reading week saw lessons flooded with Echo Reading, Paired Reading and students improving their oracy.

HCC THIS WEEK – W/C Mon 12th June

A week full of sporting accomplishments: an array of incredible results from our fantastic sports teams in the Barnsley Schools tournament, our Sports Leaders showed great leadership skills with local primary schools and Inter-form football matches were in full swing. Furthermore, our Y10 D of E students successfully completed their expedition at the weekend and ‘My Money’ week created a buzz each day with a range of activities engaging all.

An incredible start to HT6 with staff and students celebrating Pride Month. Enrichment clubs have been hives of activity and there was a real buzz at Proud Thursday where students were sharing their pride in work from a range of subjects!

So much incredible learning happened this week and we loved seeing so many students engaged in their lessons. Dance Show rehearsals are in full swing and lots of students enjoying the array of different enrichment opportunities on offer from Sewing Club, to Flamenco Dancing! Click here to find out more!

HCC THIS WEEK – W/C Mon 15th May

A busy week here at Horizon; GCSE written exams have started and we couldn’t be prouder of our students’ attitude and focus. Mental Health week has allowed staff and students alike to learn about how to support themselves and enjoy an array of activities. Students have been learning so much from writing poetry, to sewing dolls to competing in the Barnsley School Semi-Finals. Click here to have a look.

Dear Parents/Carers

Please note the College is open today and Year 11 will be expected on site for their Mock Examinations. However, for Years 7 to 10, if you cannot get your child to school safely today, then please ensure that they access remote learning via Teams. For safeguarding purposes, please email in to info@horizoncc.co.uk if your child is not going to be in and will be accessing Teams.

Any child who accesses Teams remotely today will receive a present attendance mark of a B code (educated off-site). If your child does not access Teams then they will be classified as absent Please note that attendance codes will be updated throughout the day.
