This month we have been really pleased to be able to hold our Mock Interview Day event with our Y10 cohort. This is such an important experience for our students as they prepare to go into Y11 and onto their many destinations after they leave Horizon. All Y10’s were asked to prepare a CV and submit to the Careers Team before the event. There were some really great examples of what a great CV looks like.

 We had 70 business professionals from organisations and businesses – both local and national – volunteer to come in on the 12^th July and carry out an interview with students that were randomly assigned to them. The day was about giving our students the opportunity to have an interview with a business professional and have feedback, tips and advice to take forward for their career journey. What a day! The feedback from the businesses was amazing with comments such as:

 “Horizon students are a credit to themselves, the school and Barnsley” “I would employ them tomorrow” “So mature and confident”

 Students were assessed out of 30 points – 10 for their CV, 10 for their interview and 10 for overall attitude and presentation. So many of the Y10 cohort scored 30. The businesses donated some fantastic prizes as well as their time and made the final, very difficult decision about the 6 most outstanding student interviews. 

A massive thank you to all the businesses who donated their time and the staff who made the day a great experience for our students. Well done Y10 you were amazing.
